ANGUS BACKGROUND

Earnscleugh Angus Stud was established in 1997 with the purchase of the two top cows from the Waitapu female sale
including Lulu 560, the top priced female.
In 1998 and 1999, five further Waitapu females and one from the Maunu dispersal were added. These top females,
through embryo transplant, are responsible for 180 progeny to date, with 73 daughters retained in the stud. A few selected
females were purchased from Eden Bank and The Glade dispersals, including the top priced lot at each. The complete
lines of 1 and 2 year heifers from the Rowallan dispersal were purchased.
On the maternal lines we purchased a number of heifers from the Braxton dispersal sale in 2009. Of these cows a
number have gone on to produce sale bulls. The Rowandale cows have produced good bulls and some nice replacement
       females.
In the Angus breed we are aiming to retain bone and ease of doing on moderate frames while still having top data. We
are pleased with the direction they are heading and had our confidence reinforced after using Bill Austin this year as an
independent structural assessor. We believe strongly in maintaining excellent temperament in all our cattle as we have long
periods where they are not fed out to or handled.

When the sale bull has outstanding EBVs you will find these highlighted.
If the EBV is in the Top 25% of the breed, the EBV will be in dark red.
If the EBV is in the Top 50% of the breed, the EBV will be in pink.
