Welcome to the 2021 Hingaia bull sale

We at Hingaia have been breeding bulls for the beef industry for 85 years.
So how have we survived so long when many studs have disappeared? Its
relatively simple really, Hingaia has adapted to change while sticking to the
core principles of breeding strong functional profitable cattle that meet the
demands of the day. We pride ourselves on our many long term relationships
and prefer to deal with people of integrity and similar values.

Hingaia has never lost its focus on the key profit drivers of a successful cattle
operation while the same time adopting new technologies and management
techniques. If we are to remain competitive with other forms of land use we
simply need to improve efficiencies. That is to have our cattle with improved
fertility that mature quicker and attract a premium at point of sale; all
attributes Hingaia has been focusing on for years.

This year’s line-up of bulls are no exception. They are the result of a breeding
program that has focused on a fertile cow having a live calf that matures
before its second winter and able to attract a market premium. A herd that
exhibits the constitution and soundness to perform in the harshest of NZ’s
environments. We are very pleased with the new sires represented, Keith and
Lazarus. Their progeny exude the attributes we have been seeking.
All indications are that the outlook for beef is on the rise
from the second half of this year. With Australian beef
currently at $9 per kg there must be a flow on effect for NZ.

This year’s sale will be conducted a long side ‘bdir’ and
‘MyLivestock’ on line selling systems. We hope that if you
are unable to make it on the day then this maybe an option for you.
