FOREWORD

We would like to welcome everyone to the annual Shian Bull Sale. The property of 757 hectares is located
11 kilometres southeast of Taumarunui in the King Country.
Shian Angus was established in 1972 by Brian and Sharon with the purchase of two stud heifers from the
                                                     Lairdvale Stud.

In 2014 son Rob and his wife Tracy came into partnership with Brian and Sharon and the operation is now
farmed under the name Shian Farms. At present we run
approximately 250 stud cows. All females going into the herd are calved as two year olds.
The cattle we aim to breed are well framed, fertile, quiet cattle with structural soundness and a good
                                                    balance of EBV’s.

It has been slightly easier this year getting organised for the sale, leading up to last year's sale we weren't
even sure it was going to be able to go ahead with covid restrictions. Fingers crossed nothing happens
between writing this and sale time. We are very happy to present another great line up of bulls this year.
Taimate Mako again leaving those soft fleshing, structurally sound and quiet cattle with a good spread of
EBV’s. Matauri Ranger producing those long heavy cattle who are also quiet in nature and structurally
sound. This year is the last crop of Kaino son’s and they are definitely good ones to finish up on.
Waiterenui M3 has a couple of good son’s in the sale, with his bulls selling well last year. We have a new
sire Mt Mable Rock this year. Unfortunately we lost him due to injury at the end of his first mating, so we
just have the one crop for sale.

We look forward to seeing you on sale day and invite you to join us for a BBQ and
                                               refreshments after the sale.
