Caring for your new Bull
When a bull leaves Argyle Station he is leaving the security of a mob and will arrive
in a strange environment. It is important that you have a quiet mate in the yards to
help him settle. Don’t put him into a mob of older bulls. He will enjoy some quality hay
or baleage if there is a shortage of grass.
Your bull will still do a lot of growing over the next year and he will need enough feed
to maintain his growth pattern.
Close attention over mating is advised to quickly detect any problems that may occur,
i.e lameness, infections and any abnormal servicing issues.
When the breeding season is finished, you could shout him a drench before putting
him away with enough feed in front of him. Adequate feed will help prevent fighting
and help the bull settle into the group.
Good stockmanship, commonsense and caring for your young bull, especially within
the first twelve months, will ensure that he will give good service and mature into a
good sire.
We wish you all the best and thank you.
