This is Smoke’s 9th and last crop of sale bulls. I will not say ever because I am sure he will be brought back out of the AI tank one day. Yet This is Matariki 150490’s second crop of sons for sale. He is phenotypically an extremely hard bull to fault. He is a strong headed
again he has some top sons in this year’s sale. You will not fi nd a more proven sire; between NZ and Australia he has 1340 registered sire with plenty of length and width in behind. He is free moving standing on great legs and feet with a real sire’s presence and good
progeny and 360 daughters have bred. Smoke has really made an impact on the Hereford breed; it is easy to see why when a bull bred cosmetics. He was sired by Koanui Chiefl y who has left his mark on our herd. As you will see in our pedigrees there are some great young
15 years ago still has a data set with 10 traits in the top 5% for the breed. His dam weaned her last calf at 16 years of age leaving cows coming through. Chiefl y also produced three great crops of meaty strong commercially focussed sale bulls before being sold to
some tremendous calves. Smoke himself turns 14 this year and has been one of the soundest and mobile bulls you will fi nd. Smoke has Rock-End Herefords as an aged sire. 490’s dam is bred from strong female lines; her mother is also the dam of Matariki Herman who
many top females in the herd, and you will see them featuring in several pedigrees in this year’s sale bulls. Smoke has 4 typical sons in left us a great line of females and is the grandmother of the great Holy Smoke. So, there is plenty of breeding behind this fella to back him
the sale this year all displaying his softness and carcass traits. up. He has an outstanding line of 5 sons in the catalogue this year. We have also retained a top son Matariki Magnum from this year’s
crop.
