The Bayly family Waitangi sheep and beef property, Wairoa Station, won the Northland Regional
Council Water Quality Enhancement Award, Predator Free Farm Award and Beef + Lamb New
Zealand Livestock Farm Awards.

• This is an impressive Angus stud with a consumer orientated breeding programme focused on using
proven performance genetics to enhance commercial returns for buyers.
• Soil limitations are well understood and management plans ensure the appropriate stock classes are
utilised to minimise environmental impacts.
• Significant wetlands and waterways are fenced and retired from pastoral farming to reduce
sedimentation of waterways and provide a natural habitat for a range of flora and fauna.
• Diversification of the wider farming family business into dairying, apiculture and hospitality is seen as
a real strength of this business and part of a proactive succession plan.
